The calling of God on a life has many stages. We are drawn – but we must also draw to Him. We may experience a deep crisis of the soul to meet our Savior, or to begin a new stage of the journey. The journey is from head to heart. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them (Ezek 36:26-28).
Where God’s circumstances, your talent and your heart intersect, this is where God has called you to be. Sometimes the heart is the last thing to come into alignment with our purpose and destiny because the process required to get to our ultimate destiny is often what we seek most to avoid in our lives. The distance between the head and the heart can be miles and years, and much pain.
It is this deeper work that only God can do that we cannot appreciate until we are experiencing a personal heart change and we actually begin to fulfill our assignment. Calling is often best understood "backwards" near the completion of the assignment.
