Hi Os et al :)

I like ML, but have some ideas how to make it better... For strater to add some more info on profile page, more liek Linkedin. Is it possible to add fields for professional skils, personal interests, etc.

Now we have several hundredas of people, but I don't know where to start connecting with them. If I can get more info about their professional, spiritual and personal life, it would be easier (and more meaningful) to make conections.

I understood that ML should be a tool that will help us to reach our full potential in Chirst and help each others to fulfil our calling here on Earth..

Any comments, ideas, etc.. are welcome :)

Hi Nathan, this page on the Ning support site might give some further detail on making changes to a profile page.
http://help.ning.com/cgi-bin/ning.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faq...

If you edit the "text box" below the Profile Information on your profile page, you can put text, links, images; anything you'd like to include. You can also change the name of the text box too.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
I am totally confused by this site. Since our women's community currently sits on a ning platform, I don't understand that individual blog posts don't who up somewhere on the landing page so others' can read & I can read others. Please give some direction to how this is set up. I don't write blog posts & click "everyone" to have the post sit obscurely in the background.

Thanks much for some explanation of what happens to our posts.
Another suggestion. Our site requires a personal photo with the profile. It's part of our safety-security commitment and a face to go with the name makes for a much better connection. I note a large number of avatars here. I personally would like a photo of any person I'm going to connect with and a bit more information about them. It's too easy for folks of somewhat unsavory character to populate groups such as this one and our one for women. The more opportunity given for them to hide behind an avatar and nothing about themselves - the greater danger is inherent in social media networking.
Another opinion is that, "Localize", we need to encourage and enforce our local change agent to take part in ML. Thus, forming local groups with people we meet frequently, face to face, such as our family members, church members, and friendly associates. Leaders from workplace, church, fellowship, neighborhood to family should take the first step to participate actively of this family-based website. More participation, resulting more feedback... in terms of site improvement and attractiveness.

It's been a Iong time since i've been here,.BTW, i viewed the websites you mentioned and well aware that you are the webmaster of both. Nice job for creating them. Now, what shall we do?

I was not actively involved in the seminars and group activity, so i felt isolated. As you know unlike Facebook or social websites, we have notifications and updated round the clock. Before i use FB, my friends and classmates was suprised that i do not use some social network such as Twitter or the like. Well, i realised that i need to have an account too.

Unlocking the Power

"I in them and You in Me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that You sent Me and have loved them even as You have loved Me." - John 17:23

There have been certain breakthroughs in the world that have changed the course of history: electricity, the automobile, the atom, and the telephone, to name just a few. If we never recognized the applications of these inventions, we would still be sitting around in the dark, riding horses, and communicating by pony express. However, we have seen the opportunities and the applications, so the world is a different place now.

Jesus made a profound statement that has the potential to change the world if we simply apply the truth. What if I told you that this one truth would allow people to see Jesus and respond to the gospel like nothing we have ever experienced? It is the key to unlocking the door of salvation to so many that remain lost. Yet it is the one thing we, as His children, fail at the most.

What is this one thing? It is unity. Lack of unity among His Body of believers prevents Christ from being revealed to so many. Efforts have been made, but our Body remains fragmented and weak. Consider that there are more than 24,000 Christian denominations in the world today and five new ones beginning each week, according to the 1999 September issue of Moody Magazine. Does this sound like unity?

God has called each of us individually and corporately to represent Christ to the world, but our independence, pride, and ego prevent us from becoming unified in the purposes of Christ.

Are you a catalyst for unity in His Body, or an instrument of division? Are people seeing Jesus because of the unity they see in your family, your church, and among your workers? The old adage, "United we stand, divided we fall," is not just a good battle cry; it is a spiritual truth that will determine the fate of many souls. Pray that God will allow you to be an instrument to unify His Body.

Is not what the Lord wants clear enough?

Now what shall we do?

We run a bunch of localized group sites on backyard.weatherbug.com and habershamcommunity.org that do well. Feel free to checkout how ours are ran and get some ideas.

I would think making this site more accessible to others like on Facebook.  For example, add our facebook/twitter/linked in profile information.  Also, making it local would be great, so for example....I live in Miami, FL.  There can be an option that says something like "Connect with others in your area" and then I can see a list of everyone who lives in Miami or just Florida.  Zip codes wouldn't be good, because then your getting too personal in my opinion!  But you can at least message the person and talk, like in Facebook you know?

Also, making the site more pleasing to the eye is good too.  Updating the "look" with some nicer graphics and things would definitely be great, and making the posts more bunched together so that you can zip through them quickly is nice too.

I agree with you, Michael!

Thanks for these suggestions Cale and Michael.

Anytime!  Thanks for taking the time to read them :)
